Some Bretons speak of B\u00e6 an Anaon which means \u201cBay of the deceased\u201d in reference to all the corpses of the shipwrecked who washed up there. Others evoke the B\u00e6 an Avon which means in Breton \u201cBay of the river\u201d in reference to the stream which flows into it, the source of which is the Laoual pond. But still others strongly believe in Celtic legends stating that the bay is the place where dead druids embarked for the island of Sein. The interpretation is therefore subjective but what is certain is that, regardless of the origin of the name, the Baie des Tr\u00e9pass\u00e9s remains a beautiful destination and a magnificent surf spot a few kilometers from the 3-star campsite Le Kervastard. Located on Cl\u00e9den-Cap-Sizun in Finist\u00e8re, the Baie des Tr\u00e9pass\u00e9s is a sort of link between the two points of Cap de Sizun (Pointe du Raz and Pointe du Van), forming a hollow between two cliffs where house the beautiful beach which bears the same name. It is strongly exposed to winds, sometimes violent, which help to form gigantic waves. Surfers from all over the world come to challenge nature, while enjoying the beautiful wild and authentic landscapes that surround the Baie des Tr\u00e9pass\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
The bay is subject to westerly swells which wander from the Raz de Sein. In good weather and when all the conditions are met, the spot becomes essential and easy to surf on all tides. Finally, at low tide, you can see caves in the cliffs bordering the beach. Be careful though: without supervision, swimming is prohibited on the Baie des Tr\u00e9pass\u00e9s beach.<\/p>\n
Hiking lovers will also be delighted to spend a pleasant time at the Baie des Tr\u00e9pass\u00e9s. They will be able to enjoy walking on the sand and the coastal dunes which border the beach. Behind the line of pebbles, they will be able to find a white dune covered with maroons and another gray dune where the vegetation is low. If you are used to long hikes, try the Pointe de Van-Pointe de Raz section of the GR 34 route, a long-distance coastal path which connects Mont-Saint-Michel to Saint-Nazaire.
